THE 2013 USCF EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTION
Late update: LEROY DUBECK POST ON USCF ISSUES FORUM: On June 17, 2013, Dr. Leroy Dubeck of Cherry Hill, NJ made a post on the USCF Issues Forum in reply to my posts www.checkmate.us/marinello13.htm and www.checkmate.us/2006.htm in which I complained that Beatriz Marinello had disregarded the interests of USCF in pushing to have the 2006 US Open awarded to Cherry Hill, New Jersey. There are four Executive Board seats to be filled this
year (2013), and six candidates. I am not eligible to run after being on the
Board for the past 8 years, and also leaving the Board after 6 years is Jim
Berry. Ruth Haring and Mike Atkins are running for re-election, The other
candidates are Randy Bauer, Chuck Unruh, Beatriz Marinello and Tim Redman.
All candidates are elected at
large, so the four candidates with the most votes of these six will be elected.
The two leading vote getters will obtain three year terms, the other two who are
elected two year terms. Only registered voters may vote (the registration deadline was March 31), however
anyone who was registered for the 2011 election and whose USCF membership did
not lapse is still registered.)
I recommend voting for MICHAEL ATKINS, CHUCK UNRUH, RANDY BAUER,
and RUTH HARING. It has been a pleasure serving on
the Executive Board for four years with Ruth, Randy and Mike, and participating
in workshops with Randy and Chuck as Finance Committee chairs. All are true
professionals who have worked well together, fully respected each other, and
always pursued only the interests of the federation.
I have been on many USCF Boards through the years, but never on one as qualified, dedicated or effective as the Executive Board of the past few years. And look at the results: the federation has shown a surplus of over $400,000 during fiscal 2010-2012, with Ruth and Mike on the Executive Board all three years, Randy on it for two of the three years, and Randy or Chuck as finance chair during this period.
